Jane is pregnant and posts in the group that she is going into labour early. Jane texts her friend Sally and asks her to let the group know she has given birth to a baby girl and said baby is in NICU. Sally, along with other members of the group offer their support and well wishes to Jane and her baby girl. Fast forward a week or so and it is discovered that Jane has lied about giving birth to baby girl. She has in fact given birth to a boy over a week later than she had originally said. All hell breaks loose when Sally and the rest of the group find out they were lied to.
So that is what happened. No, I'm not joking. If I could make up stories that good I would be a millionaire Hollywood scriptwriter instead of sitting here on my couch writing this little blog lol. What was even more entertaining was the flood of comments that followed. No doubt about it, as a moth is drawn to a flame, so are army wives drawn to drama. I have to admit that for the first few hours I found all the craziness pretty amusing. But after a while I started to fee sorry for the people like Sally who had put themselves out there and built a Facebook friendship with Jane. I'm sure that because of this incident they are forever going to be very guarded and possibly find it hard to connect with other wives online for fear of being fooled again. My advice to Sally and others is this - don't let this woman's obvious issues stop you from creating some beautiful and lasting friendships with some non-crazy women!!
Well that is it for me. I'm off to pitch my latest script idea to my Hollywood agent.
Until next time,
C.

ReplyDeleteIs thought the author of this blog liked ALL feedback good and bad...
ReplyDeleteThat's true however I too was disgusted with the rape comment on that page and do not want it associated with my blog in anyway.
DeleteThe poor lady could have post natal depression, being threatened by a barbed wire baseball bat was absolutely uncalled for-
ReplyDeleteShe hardly deserved being threatened with a barbed wire baseball bat
ReplyDeleteWent through again sorry
ReplyDeletedelete it all if you like I'm having troubles with the site and didn't mean to write it so many times. I just think feeling bad for 'sally' and others in her group and not portraying the treatment 'jane' received is both unfair and bad blogging. But it's your blog you can do what you like! the wire comment can stay out but the threats of violence were disgraceful and nobody stopped to think the reasons behind it could be from PND. Your portrayal of the goings on is inaccurate.
ReplyDeleteGiven everyone reading this blog knows what is being talked about I'd like to point out there is a difference between threatening someone and saying you hope something bad happens to them. YES the barbed wire baseball bat sounds gruesome BUT the actual comment WAS NOT A THREAT. Here's the difference:(and here's my disclaimer so it's clear the YOU is not referring to anyone it just works in my example!)
ReplyDelete"I hope you get hit by a bus" NOT A THREAT
"I am going to run you over with my bus" THREAT
not condoning just clearing up misinformation.
ok so saying; I HOPE she gets raped with a barbed wire baseball bat; doesn't match the definition of a threat, still sounds pretty threatening to me and certainly changes the tone of your blog - which I understand you don't want but you are leaving parts of the story out. You are creating a light hearted commentary of a very disgraceful occurance. You don't want it associated with your blog? maybe you shouldn't write about it.... writing half the story is pretty lazy. I really like all your blogs, but this one is lacking. Only my opinion.
ReplyDeleteOk, maybe I didn't get his across clearly but the point of this post was to say that I hoped that this whole incident didn't put 'Sally' off of making friends online in the future. I didn't want to go into further detail.
DeleteBut yes I am keen for all types of feedback so thank you.
OMG she does not have post or pre natal depression. This is the second time Jane has been caught out and a unconfirmed 3rd time FFS. There were woman who were in the process of IVF and who had just lost their own children who offered her support and comfort when she said that her "Fake Daughter" was born via emergancy c section and was taken to the NICU - she dragged over 300 people into a web of lies and people who gave their heart to her over the situation were desvistated to be told that AGAIN this person had head fucked everyone. It has greatly effected many people in the group that IS NOT a support group but gave her all the well wishes and support - that was not warrented. When you hear of a child who you are told has complications you hold your breath for them and it sits there in the back of your mind as you hope and prey - even though you dont know them that they will be ok. Its not something taht you can turn around and say oh ok no worrys cheers thatks for trampling on out hearts and head fucking us heres a bottle of champagne for your new SON !!! In the heat of the moment and when you just realise that you have been taken for a ride, that the energy that you put into this person, who had a premeditated thought to do this (was saying for months that it was a girl) ends up to be a fake, of course you are going to say shit that is going to be taken out of context and it just snowballs into rubbish. We have all said things that we regret because what we type sounds completely different in our head then what people read. So move the hell on its over, its done with.
